Reflections Contest Winner

Last night was a very special night for Liam.  He entered a painting in the Reflection's Contest this Fall and was 1 of 5 students from his school that advanced to the Council level in the Visual Arts Category.  Last night we went to a Council Recognition Night with all of the winners from 8 elementary schools in our area.  We did not realize that they were going to announce winners from that group to advance to the Regional level.  So we were very surprised and excited when they called Liam's name and gave him a ribbon and certificate of advancement.  Liam did not even know what was going on.  Being that Liam is our oldest and a Kindergartener we were not really sure how the Reflection's Contest was organized so it was a nice surprise to see him advance being that we were not expecting anything.  We were so excited for him!  Liam's grandpa Henriksen was able to come and also his grandma McGuire and his aunt Holly and cousin Lucy.  We are very proud and pretty surprised that Liam is the only child from his school advancing to Region in the Visual Arts Category.

Oh I guess I should mention a little about his painting.  It is an acrylic painting of a rocket ship.  The theme this year was, "Together we can...."  Liam chose to say, "Together we can travel to space."  He painted it entirely himself - which is a requirement for the competition.

We were kinda surprised to see Liam's Principal there, Mr. Prusse.  Liam was very flattered and a little intimidated when he came up and congratulated him.  Everyone thinks the world of Mr. Prusse.
